Today's walk is only 14kms and it was so blissful. My knee was really painful in the night so Hedley rock taped it this morning and I was stunned by the immediate difference it made. And for the first time ever I walked in my skins vs putting them on for recovery after. I'd noticed they seemed to help a lot last night when we got in and I'm glad I stuck with them.
I walked easy today, a little angst on the first up and down 'hills' - rolling track really and seemed to come in good even after resting. It was like our regular morning walks today. May it continue. We had Ron and Kathy from the camp take our big packs on to rest our bodies today and it was well worth it. Very good move.
Fortunately we have day packs with us because we have a number of days on the trail where we stay in the same accommodation for more than one day and we don't need to lump the big ones. We have asked today's accommodation to take them through tomorrow and then we have two days in Lions Head. So I'm hoping with three days of a day pack my knee will come good and my exhausted body recover.
Today's highlights included seeing a garter snake slither across the track. They are harmless and it was cool to see. The only one we have to watch for is the Massasagua Rattlesnake and apparently it makes a big noise. Saw some more cool fungi growing up a tree and the coolest thing was watching a wasp try and nab a caterpillar. The caterpillar was smart and after swinging away from it a couple of times just let go of the branch. The wasp looked miffed and then started looking under the leaves for another victim. Quite a few bumble bees and because we were roadside some lovely wildflowers.
Arrived at our accommodation- Chin Road North B and B. Beautiful house and our hosts will make us dinner tonight as well. We arrived at lunchtime so just a free arvo chilling and catching up on emails and blog because we've had no internet since leaving Tobermory. Hedley is telling me the pics won't load so may still not get posted but the work is done and I don't have to worry about anything at the office needing my attention.
