This is the highest point on Hong Kong island, The Peak is the place where you can enjoy a bird's-eye view of Hong Kong. It is reached by a steep cable tram ride which in itself is an experience as you ascend the mountain at a disconcerting angle

What I experienced here
Victoria Peak can be reached by an old cable car funicular tram that climbs a steep incline to the peak. At the top there are many shops and restaurants that can occupy you for many hours. The views of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island harbour are amazing and not to be missed. There is also a Madam Tussaud’s museum within a modern looking viewing tower that also has cafes and other shops.
I took in the amazing views of the harbour of Hong Kong Isalnd and Kwoloon. Took some of the best phtoso of the Island. Had a coffee and cake in one of the cafes.
It was very early in the day when we visited and we had a lot planned for the rest of the day. So we felt a little rushed and would have liked to have hung around longer than we did. The shops were only juts opening as we arrived around 1000am.
The Peak is 550 metres above sea level. During Colonial days many wealthy expats lived up here due to the cooler weather. The funicular railway tram line was constructed in 1888. The first road was built in 1924, when permanent homes started to appear.
A great idea to plan to spend a few hours up here and have lunch, allow time to browse through the shops and pick up a few gifts.
